Steam’s Most Wish Listed Video Game was Taken Down Just 5 Days After it’s Launch

The Day Before a Failure

A Zombie survival game that was hyped for 5 years was pulled from the Steam store after just 5 days. Here’s what you need to know.

Fntastic Promised Too Much

The Day Before is a Zombie Survival FPS. In the initial trailers and concept videos shown by the developer Fntastic, it was depicted as an open world MMO where you gather materials and take down hordes of zombies while building up your home base. It featured decent MMO graphics, realistic reloading, recoil and shooting precision and maps with drivable cars and jump scares. They do have cars so, hey, that’s like 17% there! Even with the cryptic trailers and no word on Maps or other details the title became the most Wish listed game on Stream.

Zombie Survival Game Couldn’t Survive it’s Own Launch

On December 7th, Fntastic released The Day Before on Steam for Early Access for $39. It sold over 201k units on steam. By the next day players were demanding refunds. 91k players to be exact. The game had a fraction of what it promised and was practically unplayable by how buggy it was. Like we’re talking Golem level bad. Fntastic released a letter apologizing for the negative press today on Steam saying that it was working to provide those refunds. They also announced that the studio is shutting down altogether after the financial failure. For now, the servers are still on, and they said the future of this title is unknown, but as of Monday you can no longer download The Day Before on Steam.

Idk. Do you think it was all a big 5-year scam or do you feel bad for the devs?
